Seeing clouds

I hadn't been able to get to the studio for a couple weeks as I had to get kids ready to go back to school and Cat coming home for a much needed week long visit, so when I did get back out there, I wanted to loosen up a bit and start slowly.   I am always taking pictures of clouds and thought they would give me great practice in really seeing the subtleties and the colors as well as allowing me to keep some looser brush strokes.  I had a great time doing them and hope to revisit them again but for the next few weeks I have two commissions and then I'd like to get back to the NYC series and some small works for the holidays.  Have a great week!

Busy summer!

I apologize for the lack of posts these past couple of months.  I knew that June would be busy, but July proved to be just as crazy!  But it was all good!  June was full of college visits for our youngest who was offered several football scholarships, and chose to commit to Fordham University in NYC to play D1 football next fall!  We are so proud of his hard work and so excited for all the opportunities he will have there.  And... he will be close to his older sister, so we will get to visit BOTH kids when we go!  :)  July started off with a secret we had to keep for weeks until our older son proposed to his girlfriend on the lake Michigan beach with all of the family in attendance.  So thrilled for them and happy to have Ally as part of our family. Having said all that, I have been able to get a few paintings completed and started a new bag series which I am really enjoying.  Here are a few of my recent paintings...

It's finally feeling like spring and things are starting to bloom!  Thank goodness!  But with this spring come so many things... prom is this weekend and we have two kids attending.. dresses, tuxes, flowers, pictures..argh!  Then high school graduation, grad, cleaning, and lot of weeding and gardening!  I will sneak as much studio time in as I can!  I am working on a commission now, but was able to finish a small NYC piece and deliver 3 works to the Hammond Harkins Gallery last week!

Piano Man Project

Piano Man Project is a very cool project that my friend, Ken Arthur, is doing.  This show opens tomorrow at the Sandusky Cultural Center.  The show will also feature the work of Gary Spinosa.  If you get a chance to go see this show, I highly recommend doing so!  Two VERY talented artists!  I can't make the opening, but can't wait to see the show next week!

This is my piano man for the project.  The Stand In...
