Seeing clouds

I hadn't been able to get to the studio for a couple weeks as I had to get kids ready to go back to school and Cat coming home for a much needed week long visit, so when I did get back out there, I wanted to loosen up a bit and start slowly.   I am always taking pictures of clouds and thought they would give me great practice in really seeing the subtleties and the colors as well as allowing me to keep some looser brush strokes.  I had a great time doing them and hope to revisit them again but for the next few weeks I have two commissions and then I'd like to get back to the NYC series and some small works for the holidays.  Have a great week!

Small Works!

I have been loving painting smaller works over the last few weeks.  I got really excited over some small moody NYC scenes, and then earlier this week, I just really wanted to paint a bit tighter and found this ribbon candy that has been sitting in the studio for a year or more waiting for the right time.  (I wouldn't try to eat it, but it wasn't in bad shape considering! )  :)
How blessed I am to be able to do what I love!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

I am so pleased and honored to be featured in the Nov/Dec issue of "Heart Of Ohio" magazine!!  My painting titled, Time in a Bottle, is on the front cover!  It's a beautiful magazine that speaks about people and places in our area of Ohio.  If you  get a chance, click here to check out the article and magazine!

Down to the wire...

I am working diligently on finishing up the last few pieces for our trip south at the end of the month.  Having said that, I was able to sneek a few days to do two smaller works that will be auctioned off at the Veggie Institute dinner, created by the amazing Chef Tony Dee, on October 27!  http://www.culinaryvegetableinstitute.com/cvi_cms/129.html  The proceeds from the monthly dinners go toward a program that teaches kids where the food and veggies they eat come from. It's a great event for a great cause!!  If you'd like to bid on these, let me know and I will pass your bid along!

Trying to loosen up!

This week I have been playing with loosening up with my brush stroke.  There are fine lines between loose and busy and messy and muddy.. And I have crossed them all!  Here are the results..

The Butler Institute of American Art Mid Year Exhibition

This past weekend I was in Hollywood, CA for the TCM film festival with my mother and my daughter.  We had a fabulous time and saw more movies in four days than I had in four months!  Our favorite by far was seeing "The Grapes of Wrath" on the big screen.  What a visually beautiful film!!   If you ever get the chance to see it in the theater, I would highly recommend it!  When I got home I was so happy to find out that my painting, "When The Devil Whispers in Your Ear, Look the Other Way" has been accepted into the The Butler Institute of American Art Mid-Year Exhibition!  Very exciting!  And now back in the studio for a few weeks until we head to NYC to see our oldest graduate from college and see her movie on the big screen for the first time!!
