Today I finished my portrait for the Different strokes from Different Folks challenge... We were given a photo of another artist to paint and they were given ours. This one was a tough one for me! I went back and forth between trying to get a likeness of someone I'd never met and just painting until I liked it. It was also hard to find a big enough block of time this past week to really bang it out all at once (which I MUCH prefer) and as a result I spent sporadic time at it when I could which frustrated me.. Having said all that, I am fairly happy with it finally and I hope the person I painted likes it!!

I have also uploaded a few of the paintings I had done before the Christmas rush overtook me!

Sally these paintings are great, Lesley is going to love her portrait. You both did such fabulous jobs. I love the loose vibrancy of your work.

Vern, Thanks for your kind comments! Dominique, the golden painting was a gift for my husband, his dog, Lacey, so it meant a lot to me to capture her expression!

Sally, I came here from DSFDF to tell you how much I love your portrait, but now I see all these other new things you've done in the last weeks and I have to say, I am in awe -- I LOVE your style. The iguana and golden retriever are my favorites but the landscape scenes and interiors are SUPER! I feel like Gomer Pyle: "GAHahhhllleeeee!!!" I'm going to have to check back here much more often.

OMG, I love it! I'm so excited! It looks just like me. You had a tough photo to work from, lots of shadows and that silly hat, and you've worked miracles with it. I love your color and sense of light. Brava!!!

Sally there is such a deep mood being expressed in this painting. I feel at any moment she will show us the flower she is about to sniff with all her heart. You captured the heart of Les. Beautiful painting.
