New work!

The past couple of weeks I have been working on two paintings that couldn't be more different from one another.  One is glass, with bright colors and hard edges and the other is a flower with soft whites and soft edges.  I have really enjoyed going back and forth between them.
A Rose By Any Other Name.. 36" x 48"  oil on canvas

While roses are not my favorite flower, I couldn't resist the challenge of the warm shadows and cooler highlights.

Minding My B's and Q's 48" x 60" oil on canvas
The jars introduce my new flea market find!  The jar is a Quick Seal and I loved painting that big Q for a change!!

Both paintings will probably head south with me in October.

"Peony" and "Michael's Marble" paintings

I have been working on 3 paintings and have finished 2... the 3rd one will have to wait until we get back from the beach... AND I get moved into my AMAZING new studio!! (pictures soon) I have been watching the new studio be built right outside the window of my current studio.. and wouldn't you know it.. it will be done the day we leave for vacation!! But I will be back soon enough.. recharged and ready to move in!! In the meantime... I am posting these two paintings... I have been playing a bit with the mediums... and have found that I really like a heavier one with more stand oil.. I am painting just a bit more in layers and like that too.. but am struggling with how much brush stroke to leave... I still want a bit more I think.. it's all learning!!
